Classical music is a cornerstone of cultural memory. Many important scores � especially older editions and privately held collections � are fragile, deteriorating, or at risk of becoming inaccessible due to time, environment, or private ownership.

The Sheet Music International Global Foundation Inc. exists to ensure that historically significant music is preserved, digitized, and shared freely with the world. By focusing on public-domain repertoire and educator-relevant editions, we safeguard the music that shaped human history and make it available to future generations.

When we preserve scores, we preserve human culture.

How We Work

Our preservation process is grounded in archival practice and practical performance needs.

Digitization Standards

• High-resolution scanning for long-term archival storage
• Contrast correction and page clarity enhancement
• Straightening/skew correction for consistent readability
• Minimal digital artifact introduction to retain authenticity

Cataloging & Metadata

Every score is labeled with:

• Composer & and catalgoued
• Instrumentation & ensemble type
• Key, movement structure, and era
• Edition and publication details when identifiable
• Historical notes when available

Performance-Ready Output

Whenever feasible, we optimize music for the performer:

• Provide practical pagination for page turns
• Group parts sensibly for ensemble use
• Prioritize legibility and rehearsal usability

Our goal is not only to preserve music, but to ensure musicians can actually perform it.

Many historic works live in private studios, family archives, ensemble libraries, and personal collections. We welcome contributions from:

How to Donate or Loan Materials

Log into to your Sheet Music International Library account and click the upload music link at the top of the page.  For security reasons you must be logged into your account to upload music.
